Dr Komal Kumar
Behavioural and Developmental Paediatrician
BSc MBBS DCH FRACP Community and Child Health
Dr Komal Kumar is a neurodevelopmental and behavioural paediatrician specialising in learning difficulties, Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). She graduated from University of Queensland Medical school in 2011 and trained in paediatrics at Princess Margaret Hospital, Perth and Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
She further subspecialised in developmental paediatrics at various sites across NSW including: Royal Far West (Manly), Sydney, South-Eastern Sydney and South Western Sydney Community Paediatrics Departments. During her fellowship she trained with child and adolescent psychiatrists and has a special interest in mood and anxiety disorders.
She works as a Staff Specialist developmental paediatrician in the Developmental Disability Assessment Service for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. She has previously also worked as Staff Specialist at South Western Sydney in a variety of specialised clinical settings including Aboriginal and Refugee health. She has extensive experience in diagnosing neurodevelopmental disorders and managing associated behavioural difficulties in children and adolescents. She is proficient in use of assessment tools such as Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and Griffiths Scales of Child Development. She believes in advocating for a neurodiversity affirming approach in all aspects of children’s lives.
She is currently pursuing a higher degree by research at UNSW focussing on role of genetic testing in neurodevelopmental conditions. She is a member of Australian Society of Developmental Paediatricians (ASDP) and a Fellow of Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).
Dr Andrew Iskander
Paediatrician
Dr Andrew Iskander is a general paediatrician with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). He graduated from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Medical School and holds a Diploma in Child Health (DCH) from the University of Sydney.
He completed his specialist paediatric training at Sydney Children’s Hospital, where he gained extensive experience across a wide range of paediatric disciplines. Dr Iskander consults on all general paediatric cases including ADHD as well as developmental concerns, providing comprehensive care from infancy through adolescence.
With a special interest in adolescent medicine, Dr Iskander has significant experience in psychiatry, sexual health, eating disorders, and drug and alcohol issues affecting young people. His approach is compassionate, evidence-based, and centred on supporting both the child and their family.
In addition to clinical work, Dr Iskander is committed to medical education and is a Conjoint Associate Lecturer at UNSW, where he is actively involved in teaching the next generation of doctors.
Outside of medicine, Dr Iskander is an avid sports fan who enjoys watching almost any sporting event. He plays golf regularly, has a love for trivia quizzes, and most of all values spending time with his young family.
Lisa Hanley
Speech Pathologist
Lisa is a Speech Pathologist with over 20 years’ experience working with people of all ages. Lisa is passionate about supporting people with communication difficulties to have a voice and be included within their communities. She enjoys working with young children and parents to get to know a child and understand who they are, their skills and uniqueness.
For nearly 10 years Lisa has worked within a NSW Health multidisciplinary assessment team involved in completing Autism and developmental assessments with preschool and school aged children. Lisa is one of a few Speech pathologists trained and experienced in using the Griffiths Scales of Child Development. She is also experienced in using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule. Any assessment tool is used alongside observation and input from those who know the child well.
Lisa graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology), she also holds a Masters in Community Development from the University of NSW. She has worked within assessment and therapy services across Health, Justice, private and non-government sectors across Sydney, ACT, rural NSW as well as overseas. She has worked with children, young people and adults from diverse language backgrounds. Lisa is a Key Word Sign Australia presenter and has a strong understanding of communication and alternative ways to support communication development.
Ultimately Lisa enjoys working within a team, with colleagues and parents who know their child best.
